Understanding that public perception is the key to building a healthy talent pipeline to feed the industry in the future, the MICHauto Talent Attraction & Industry Awareness Committee works to engage companies and organizations around workforce related issues as well as develop strategic marketing campaigns for the state’s automotive and mobility industry.

The objective of this committee is to focus on future talent pipeline needs including immigration, veteran programs, skilled labor and other educational programs as well as promote the state’s automotive assets to automotive companies and site selectors, improve Michigan’s public perception of the automotive and mobility industry, and attract talent to Michigan’s automotive and mobility industry. Participation is limited to current MICHauto partners.

Ideal Committee Members

Each MICHauto investor company is allotted two committee seats, with a maximum of one representative from each of the following areas:

  • Human Resources, recruiting and talent
  • Marketing, communications and public relations

Committee Priorities

  • This committee includes two working groups:
    • Talent Pipeline Engagement – This working group is most helpful to the committee members working in HR and recruiting. Together the group will identify future talent pipeline needs for the industry and how MICHauto’s collective of investors can make a meaningful impact through projects that include the Discover Auto student program.
    • Industry Awareness – This working group will utilize the communications and marketing committee members to work on the development and rollout of a social media marketing campaign to raise awareness of the opportunities for career development in the automotive industry in Michigan.
  • Make recommendations of speakers/panelists for participation MICHauto events.
  • Help grow MICHauto by recommending prospective investors and committee members.

2019 Deliverables

  • Host a series of Discover AutoMobility events at colleges and universities schools across the state, providing students with a presentation on the industry, automotive technology, and career opportunities.
  • Coordinate a series of Discover AutoMobility technical center tours for middle school and high school students across the state.
  • Develop a working group around immigration-related issues.
  • Develop and execute an industry awareness campaign.
  • Develop an investor engagement campaign for MICHauto.
  • Contribute, when applicable, to content development for Driven on behalf of company.
