Snyder leads 8-day trade mission in Europe

Gov. Rick Snyder is in Vienna, Austria, on Thursday for the first part of an eight-day trade mission in Europe focused on spurring investment in manufacturing, mobility and tourism. The governor will attend a large technology trade fair in Germany and meet with dozens of business owners and government leaders in Austria, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The mission trip began Wednesday and runs through next Wednesday, according to a news release from the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

Candidates for governor to debate at Mackinac conference

The top contenders for governor in the Republican and Democratic primaries will share a stage at the Grand Hotel for joint debate on the final night of this year’s Mackinac Policy Conference. The Detroit Regional Chamber’s political action committee is sponsoring an 90-minute debate on May 31 for the top three candidates in both major parties vying to be the state’s next chief executive.
