Christy McDonald

Christy McDonald is an Emmy-Award winning TV anchor and journalist who has covered news in Detroit and Michigan for 25 years. She is currently a special correspondent and anchor at WDIV Local 4.  

For the past 11 years, she was the managing editor and anchor of One Detroit. She also anchored special coverage for WTVS Detroit PBS, including the Mackinac Policy Conference. McDonald appeared numerous times on the PBS NewsHour and CNN reporting on Michigan politics and Detroit’s financial crisis.   

A sought-after moderator and speaker, McDonald has led lively discussions at the Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Policy Conference, Mackinac Policy Conference, International Women’s Day events, and Business Leaders for Michigan’s CEO Summit, among others. McDonald also co-moderated Gubernatorial debates in 2014 and 2018. She has appeared on WDET public radio as a guest host and panelist, and a featured guest on the syndicated radio show Remarkable Women and WJR’s Anything is Possible.  

McDonald received numerous reporting honors from the Associated Press, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and Society of Professional Journalists. 

McDonald is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in political philosophy.
