Detroit journalists Nolan Finley and Stephen Henderson have partnered with the Chamber to announce the Detroit Civility Project. With the goal for Detroit to become a laboratory for civility, the Project was announced at the 2019 Detroit Policy Conference and is sponsored by Delta Dental.

What is it?

The Project will match up individuals from different backgrounds. The individuals are asked to conduct a Detroit Regional Chamber Civility Project Meetup, a one-on-one conversation in a public space to learn about their match. The Meetups should be conducted during July and August.

Participants can utilize the Chamber’s inventory of online resources to prepare for their discussions including best practices, tips, articles, and videos.

Following the Meetup, participants are asked to share their experiences via social media, with their peers, and completing a survey to continue the conversation.

What is the Commitment?

The Detroit Civility Project will continue in 2020. Please stay tuned for more details.

Each participant will receive and introduction to their Detroit Civility Project match.
