Elissa Slotkin

Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin represents the 8th District of Michigan. Slotkin also serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the House Committee on Homeland Security, where she is the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism chair.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which took place during her first week of graduate school in New York City, she was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to be a Middle East analyst, serving three tours in Iraq alongside the military. She served in senior national security roles under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and served as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs at the Pentagon.
