Michigan Suppliers Win New Contracts at Largest-Attended PMBC Automotive Matchmaking Summit

More than 1,200 representatives from automotive suppliers across the state descended on Cobo Center in Detroit last week for the 2016 Pure Michigan Automotive Summit – the largest matchmaking summit hosted by the state. The Summit is a collaborative effort between Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) and the Detroit Regional Chamber designed to connect businesses with procurement opportunities among FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Toyota, and 51 of their tier one suppliers.

During the event, MICHauto hosted five 10-minute “Trend Talk” sessions featuring MICHauto investors BorgWarner, the Center for Automotive Research, IAV Automotive Engineering Inc., LMC Automotive and NextEnergy, who discussed key issues and trends in the industry. Topics included light weighting, connected vehicle technology and the impact of millennials.

“PMBC really needs to be commended for organizing and executing an incredibly successful event that promotes our state’s most important industry and supports the goal of creating opportunities and building commerce between Michigan-based companies,” said Glenn Stevens, vice president of MICHauto and strategic development for the Chamber.

Since its inception in 2011, PMBC has helped facilitate nearly $3 billion in new contacts between global purchasers and Michigan companies.
