Mike Sweers is the Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Toyota Motor North America, where he is responsible for all vehicle research and development in North America. Sweers also serves as a Senior Professionals/Senior Management member at the global parent company Toyota Motor Corporation.
Before joining Toyota, Sweers served as a Project Engineer with Chrysler Corporation from 1986 to 1990 and began his career at General Motors’ Oldsmobile Division, later becoming part of the BOC J/N Platform.
Sweers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit. He followed this with a specialty in Quality Control Management, with an Associate of Applied Science from Lansing Community College. He has received U.S. patents for automotive seating and interior trim components. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, a senior member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, and serves on TMNA’s North American Executive Committee.
