Committees

2024 Michigan is Automobility at the Capitol Group Meeting

Make a Difference in the automotive and mobility Industry

Companies are encouraged to maximize their MichAuto investment by serving on a committee that offers opportunities to stay informed on issues critical to their businesses and amplify MichAuto’s impact on Michigan’s automotive and mobility industry.

Please note that some committees have specific requirements, time commitments, and size limitations.

Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee educates automotive and mobility organizations in Michigan on state-based policy issues and the importance of voicing their concerns at the state level.

Objectives:

    • Identify and develop means by which Michigan’s automotive and mobility industry can collectively increase its voice in Lansing, keeping state government officials informed of industry priorities and improving dialogue between them.
    • Increase collaboration with other automotive and mobility advocacy organizations, including the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM).
    • Assist in planning and participating in MichAuto events that target legislative attendees.
    • Help grow MichAuto by recommending prospective investors and committee members.

Talent and Awareness Committee

A stable and growing talent pipeline is key to ensuring the success of the automotive and mobility industry, especially as it evolves and aims to be competitive against other high-tech hotspots. MichAuto’s Talent and Awareness Committee works to engage companies and organizations on workforce-related issues and to develop strategic approaches to developing the next generation of talent and attracting and retaining high-tech talent across the industry. The committee includes two working groups, including:

  • Talent Development
This working group is most relevant to the committee members working in HR and recruiting. Together, the committee identifies future high-tech talent pipeline needs for the industry and determines how MichAuto investors can make a meaningful impact through projects, such as Discover Auto and Intern Day.
  • Talent Attraction and Retention
This group of communications and marketing professionals provides input and support for programs and initiatives aimed at attracting and retaining college students and young professionals in the automotive and mobility industry. Programs include You Drive the Future, a social media campaign to rebrand high-tech careers and showcase life in Michigan.

Objectives:

  • Develop and support programs solving high-tech talent pipeline needs.
  • Improve Gen Z’s perception of Michigan’s automotive and mobility industry.
  • Participate and support efforts in the industry’s ongoing “war for talent.”
  • Support the next generation of talent through opportunities to engage, teach, and mentor.
