Mobility Meetups, hosted by MICHauto, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (MEDC-OFME), and Plug and Play Detroit are designed to bring together dynamic startups in the automotive technology space with Michigan’s automotive and mobility industry stakeholders to connect, share, and collaborate.

Sept. 6, 2023

Hosted at Rehmann’s Detroit office and planned in partnership with Ann Arbor SPARK, this meetup featured a presentation of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s official proclamation that September is Mobility Month in Michigan.

June 27, 2023

Hosted at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab, the event featured demonstrations by startups including EdgeEnergy, Flash/Arrive, HEVO, It’s Electric, Joule Labs, Kerb-e, and Voltpost.

April 4, 2023

Hosted at Newlab’s recently opened headquarters at Michigan Central in Corktown, the event featured a conversation between startups Airspace Link and Wheel.me about their company’s origin stories and why they chose to locate at Newlab Detroit. Attendees also enjoyed networking opportunities with fellow mobility companies and partner organizations such as Grounded RVs, Snowbotix, Electric Outdoors, Civilized Cycles, DeepHow, and more.

Feb. 8, 2023

Hosted by MICHauto, the MEDC, and Plug and Play Detroit on Feb. 8, the first Mobility Meetup of the new year focused on the growth and momentum behind Detroit’s startup ecosystem. The Meetup took place at WeWork in downtown Detroit and featured a fireside chat between Jer Staes from the Daily Detroit podcast and Etta Salaj, Business Development Manager for Vehya.

Nov. 10, 2022

Hosted by Bollinger Motors on Nov. 10, the event featured a panel on the future of the EV supply chain future as new manufacturers and battery companies work with the federal government to build their products in Michigan, even as disruptions caused by COVID-19 and international turmoil persist. Panelists included:

  • Haley Stevens, U.S. Representative (D-MI 11)
  • Deeana Ahmed, Vice President, Strategy and Government Relations, Our Next Energy
  • Robert Bollinger, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bollinger Motors

Attendees also enjoyed exploring Bollinger’s R&D Center, networking with fellow mobility companies and partner organizations, as well as demonstrations from startups that are developing technologies relevant to current mobility trends.
