Michigan Business Leaders Lament ‘Whiplash’ on Trump Tariffs Amid Court Rulings

MichAuto Executive Director Glenn Stevens Jr. discussed the court-ordered halt to certain import taxes. This did not include Trump’s 25% tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts, which could raise vehicle costs and impact consumer sales. Stevens pointed out that while the court’s ruling did not provide immediate relief from these primary tariffs, it was still a positive development for the industry. The now-paused order could have offered tariff relief on essential raw materials and components used in manufacturing, which are vital for suppliers.
