MichAuto’s Executive Director and the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Glenn Stevens Jr., and GS3 Global’s Chief Executive Officer and MichAuto Advisory Board Chair, Lisa Lunsford, joined Stateside to discuss the impact of tariffs on the automotive and mobility industry, the growing success of China’s automotive industry, and the implications of removing of tax credits.

From a supplier perspective, Lunsford spoke to the challenges the industry faced in 2025, “We’re used to consistency. We’re used to the high volume. We know what we’re going to do. But 2025 just upset that apple card, and in 2026, we still have to continue to figure that out.”

Speaking to whether the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold the Trump administration’s menu of tariffs, Stevens said, “The Supreme Court ruling will be impacted on where he used the
Emergency Powers Act. But even if the supreme court does nullify the use of that act, there will probably be another measure put in place by the administration. We don’t see this calming down anytime soon. “
