On Oct. 31, 2025, MichAuto Senior Director Drew Coleman joined partners from across the Saginaw region for a “Lunch and Learn” event at the Lockwood STEM Center in Hemlock, Michigan. Speakers from Consumers Energy, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, Rivian, and others spoke to students about the diverse opportunities in mobility and how hands-on learning, like the robotics programming available at Lockwood STEM, provides students with critical skills and experiences to help them succeed in their education and careers.

Additionally, the students provided updates on their projects and roles at the Lockwood STEM Center. Each of the students spoke about the critical importance of teamwork in achieving success and displayed exceptional public speaking skills. It was evident that the experience at Lockwood STEM provides both hard and soft skills that our industry partners emphasize are critically needed in employees across all facets of the industry. There was also an EV car show, drone demonstrations, and tours of the STEM Center.

MichAuto is proud to partner with Lockwood STEM Center on our High-Tech Talent Initiative. As part of the Initiative, Lockwood focuses on providing STEM teachers with the training and tools they need to succeed in the classroom. This includes offering free workshops and equipment to take back to their classrooms, enabling them to enhance their teaching of STEM principles.
