Michelle Hansel, PHR, SHRM-CP, is the vice president of human resources for the Detroit Regional Chamber and oversees daily operations within the human resources department. She directs the development, implementation and coordination of policies, programs and practices relating to recruitment, salary administration, organization development, training and development, employee benefits and employee relations for the Chamber.rnrnHansel also partners with the executive team to direct, administer and coordinate the activities of the organization in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives established by them. She has been part of the Chamber Human Resources team since August 1999. Prior to joining the Chamber, Hansel began her career in human resources working for Target Corp. and Lighting Supply Company, respectively. She previously served on the board of directors for Detroit SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) and MESRA (Michigan Employee Service and Recreation Association). She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Detroit SHRM.rnrnHansel earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oakland University, a master’s degree in human resource management from Central Michigan University, a professional in human resources (PHR) designation from the HR Certification Institute and a certified professional in human resources (SHRM-CP) designation from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Hansel is also a commissioned notary public and a certified facilitator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and The Customer training program.rnrnShe was named an American Society of Employers (ASE) HR Executive of the Year for 2018 and is an alumna of Leadership Detroit Class XXX.rnrnIn 2019, Hansel was among those recognized as Crain Detroit Business’s Notable Women in HR.rnrnShe, and her husband, daughter and son, reside in Rochester Hills.
