Dr. Phillip Levy is a tenured professor at Wayne State University where he currently serves as assistant vice president for Translational Sciences and Clinical Research Innovation and associate chair for research in the department of emergency medicine. He is a board-certified emergency physician and a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Cardiology.rnrnHe is also a standing member and chair on several boards and committees. Levy’s research interests center on health disparities related to hypertension and hypertensive heart disease, with a dual focus on acute management and population level cardiovascular disease risk reduction. He has been the principal investigator for cardiovascular disease related grant projects funded by multiple entities.rnrnLevy works closely with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Heart Disease u0026 Stroke Prevention Unit and, in collaboration with them, was most recently funded by the Center for Disease Control for a project called “Bring it Down” which seeks to leverage emergency departments as population health centers, focusing on improving blood pressure and cholesterol reduction.
