Tyson Gersh

Tyson Gersh is the co-founder and president of the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative (MUFI), an all-volunteer nonprofit based in Detroit’s North End that works to address structural inequality in the food system, drive innovation in blue and green infrastructure, and implement agriculture-centered urban development strategies. MUFI uses urban agriculture as a platform to promote education, sustainability and community in an effort to empower urban communities, solve social problems and potentially develop a broader model for redevelopment.

Gersh earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He was named one of Crain’s Detroit Business’s “20 in their 20s” in 2016.
