On Oct. 8, MichAuto partnered with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Square One Education Network to host approximately 100 high school students, teachers, and staff, giving them an opportunity to dive into the world of battery tech and EVs and get the students excited about careers in this fast-growing field.
The day started at the 2024 Battery Show at Huntington Place, where students split into groups to explore the show floor, hear from industry panelists, and join some hands-on sessions about battery basics.
After that, they went to Michigan Central Station and Newlab to learn about the inductive roadway charging tech from Deniada Nikollari and Michele Mueller. The Newlab tour also gave them a peek at some cutting-edge tech in the works. Lastly, students visited Google Code Next and met with one of MichAuto’s You Drive the Future creators, Nando Felten, to learn about exciting opportunities to work on innovative coding projects while still in high school.
While the day focused on innovative battery technology in Michigan, it was overall about inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators. Being at the Battery Show excited the students about the future of energy and tech, and the MichAuto team cannot wait to see how they will shape the industry.
Thank you to our partners at Square One Education Network for their support and expertise in making this day memorable for the students.
