While at the 2026 Mackinac Policy Conference, Drew Coleman, Senior Director of MichAuto, joined Michigan Reimagined host, Chris Buck to discuss the efforts of MichAuto to propel Michigan’s automotive industry forward. Coleman outlines MichAuto’s different initiatives and the success they’ve had thus far is preparing talent, advocating for innovative policy that benefits the auto industry, and how they all work together.
“I think advocacy, talent, and industry transition are really all tied together,” Coleman said. “What we’re really focused on is early exposure and experiential learning because we did a perception study … and more than half the young people in Michigan have zero interest in going into this industry. That’s not sustainable. We think it’s critically important to have that opportunity for these young people to get that light bulb and say, ‘Wow, I can do this.’”
