In this special Mackinac Policy Conference edition of At The Wheel, Joe White and Tu Le sat down with Glenn Stevens Jr., Executive Director of MichAuto, to discuss one of the most important questions facing the automotive industry: Can Michigan remain one of the centers of the global auto industry in the age of AI, automation, electrification, and Chinese competition?

Stevens Jr. shared details about the newly launched MichAuto Automobility Policy Roadmap, a comprehensive effort designed to ensure Michigan remains competitive as the auto industry undergoes its biggest transformation in more than a century.

“We can’t be stuck on two peninsulas while the world goes around us and passes us by,” Stevens Jr. said. “It doesn’t matter what the competition or the technology is whether it’s in our backyard, it’s in Ontario, it’s in Silicon Valley, or it’s in Shanghai. We better be aware of it, and we better be taking action.”
