“We trade with Canada and Mexico as a unified block. Not just in auto but in other things, and we’re stronger together. So the question is: Does the administration keep it intact with modifications that improve it, have unilateral trade agreements on top of it, or walk away from it? Hopefully it’s the first one,” said MichAuto’s Executive Director and the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Chief Automotive and Innovation Officer, Glenn Stevens Jr., during an interview on WJR 760 AM’s JR Morning as he discussed the upcoming U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) renegotiations.
Stevens noted that maintaining the agreement, with improvements, will be critical as the automotive industry accelerates through rapid innovation in electrification, software, and mobility.
