Mark Hackel is county executive for Macomb County, Michigan’s third largest county. Previously, he served 10 years as Macomb County sheriff from 2000–2010, being elected to three four-year terms in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He began his career with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office in 1981 as a dispatcher.
