Omari Rush

Omari Rush is executive director of CultureSource in Detroit. He was also appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to serve as chair of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. In these roles, he advances efforts to have creative and cultural expression thrive in diverse communities.

Rush previously served on the Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education National Advisory Committee, managing the K-12 education program at the University of Michigan’s University Musical Society (UMS). He also served as a consultant and volunteer with the U School, an early childhood center.

Rush earned degrees in music from Florida State University and the University of Michigan. He serves on the boards of Arts Midwest in Minneapolis, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in Washington, D.C., and the Awesome Foundation’s Ann Arbor Chapter.
