MichAuto’s State of Automobility Report Wins ACCE Award of Excellence

Signature publication touted as ‘a polished, thoughtful, and award-worthy product’
The Detroit Regional Chamber has been named one of 12 Communications Award of Excellence winners by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) for its 2025 MichAuto State of Automobility report.
ACCE’s Awards for Communications Excellence program is designed to showcase top communications and marketing work of chambers of commerce and similar organizations.
As one of the nation’s largest, longest-standing chambers, the Detroit Regional Chamber made a strong showing among award recipients. This report, published under the Chamber’s automotive and mobility industry organization, MichAuto, was touted by judges:
“The depth of research behind this piece is exceptional. It tells the story of an industry with clarity, detail and purpose while remaining accessible and easy to digest. The charts and graphs are especially effective, vividly conveying complex information in a way that supports the report’s larger narrative. We also appreciated the chamber’s willingness to address industry challenges head-on, with both care and confidence — something that can be difficult for a chamber to do. Combined with colorful photography, strong graphics and a clean, well-flowing layout, the report stands out as a polished, thoughtful and award-worthy product.”
The Chamber rescoped and expanded the 32-page report, changing it from a traditional industry marketing brochure to a thought-leadership piece designed to provoke conversation about the risks, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses of Michigan’s signature automotive industry. That required adding candid analysis to the data and statistics traditionally included in the report. The cover of the report was designed by student illustrator Courtney Melvin of Washtenaw Community College.
The 12 winning entries will now go on to compete for the Best in Show title within their total annual revenue range category. The three winning entries will be revealed at ACCE’s annual convention in New Orleans during the July 21 awards show.
“Strong communications are central to how chambers lead, serve, and demonstrate impact,” said ACCE President and Chief Executive Officer Sheree Anne Kelly. “This year’s Awards for Communications Excellence winners show what is possible when strategy, creativity and execution come together to engage members, elevate community priorities and tell the chamber story with clarity and purpose.”
A panel of communications and marketing professionals from 16 U.S.-based chambers of commerce evaluated the entries submitted for this year’s competition. Entries were organized by category — based on the chamber’s annual revenue — and entry type: digital media, campaigns, print and electronic publications, and websites.
