Last week, MichAuto and You Drive the Future hosted Come Home to Detroit, a casual networking event that connected top employers in the Detroit Region with young, STEM-focused talent. Participating companies included Cummins, Forvia Hella, Deloitte, Mahle, and NYX Inc.
Unlike a typical career fair, Come Home to Detroit creates an approachable, friendly environment for attendees to connect. MichAuto investors and Detroit Regional Chamber member companies were able to have one-on-one conversations with students and recent grads about their company culture, discuss what it’s like working in the automotive and mobility industry, and showcase job openings.
In addition to the personal connections, each company walked away with a pack of over 65 resumes of interested candidates from top schools including University of Michigan, Wayne State, College for Creative Studies, and even out of state colleges such as the University of Texas.
With the growing demand for high-tech talent, having access to a pool of highly educated and skilled individuals is crucial for companies aiming to grow and innovate. Through events like Come Home to Detroit, MichAuto and You Drive the Future are supporting this industry growth and economic development for the Detroit Region and state, and promoting, retaining, and growing the talent pipeline for automotive and mobility companies.
