January 26, 2023

The Better in Our Backyard Annual Dinner took place on Thursday, January 19, in Duluth, Minnesota, which advocates for the domestic mining industry vital to the mineral supply chain needed to build clean energy technologies powering the transition to a carbon-zero economy.

The dinner featured powerful commentary from Minnesota Congressman Rep. Pete Stauber, who recently introduced pivotal permitting reform and formal analysis from the keynote speaker, Lucy Crane, Environmental, Social, and Governance Sustainability Manager at Cornish Lithium Limited, which is exploring lithium-enriched geothermal waters and other battery metals in Cornwall, UK.

MichAuto Government and Community Affairs Director Paul Corbett attended the dinner to support the excellent work BIOBY does and help connect those in the automotive and mobility industry to the mining industry.

“The incredible turnout demonstrates the organic support from so many people of good faith working to combat the climate crisis while putting as many Americans as possible into well-paying jobs,” Corbett said. “I’m optimistic that the efforts of BIOBY, in partnership with MichAuto and others, will soon produce tangible results that will make our planet healthier, our workforce stronger, and our communities more vibrant.”
