MICHauto Hosts Legislative Tour of Regional Mobility Hubs

October 24, 2019
This month, MICHauto and Rep. Bronna Kahle (R-Adrian) hosted a tour of some of the state’s most innovative mobility hubs for more than a dozen fellow legislators. The tour was intended to showcase the State of Michigan’s investment in the future of mobility to support the industry’s continued development.

The tour kicked off with an interactive experience at Mcity in Ann Arbor led by Victoria Waters, assistant director of Mcity. The legislators experienced the connected testing environment firsthand during a ride in an autonomous shuttle.

The American Center for Mobility was the next stop on the legislators’ tour, where Dawn Thompson, director of strategy and special programs, gave the legislators a brief presentation followed by a tour of the 500-acres of multiple test environments.

The group ended the day at the PlanetM Landing Zone, a community workspace for automotive and mobility startups in downtown Detroit. During the visit, the group toured the Landing Zone’s workspace and received an overview of MICHauto and the state of the industry from Glenn Stevens Jr., executive director of MICHauto and vice president of automotive and mobility initiatives for the Detroit Regional Chamber.

This tour is one of several across the state that MICHauto has been hosting for legislators to showcase the vast and impactful work being done in the automotive and mobility industries, and the importance of securing this industry for the state’s economic future.
