MICHauto Hosts Legislative Tour of West Michigan’s Automotive Industry

November 19, 2019
Last month, MICHauto partnered with The Right Place in Grand Rapids for a day of automotive and mobility discussions with current and prospective members of Michigan’s Legislative Auto Caucus with Co-chair Rep. Jim Lilly (R-MI 89) to highlight the innovative work happening in West Michigan’s up-and-coming automotive hub.

West Michigan Automotive Industry Day kicked-off with a roundtable discussion with West Michigan automotive and mobility industry CEOs at The Right Place – the nonprofit economic development organization moving West Michigan’s economy forward – where the talent needs of the industry dominated the discussion.

Following the discussions in Grand Rapids, MICHauto took Legislators to explore Shape Corp.’s contributions to the evolving automotive and mobility industry through a plant tour demonstration, crash test and modeling simulation, and prototype review.

Legislators participated in discussions about Shape Corp.’s community partnerships and regional engagement, opportunities to support further growth for the industry, and overcoming legislative challenges.

MICHauto’s Legislative tours participate in a larger initiative to establish a statewide presence by showcasing impactful work and innovation happening in automotive and mobility hubs throughout the state.
