As Michigan heads into a pivotal election year, MichAuto’s Executive Director and the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Chief Automotive and Innovation Officer, Glenn Stevens Jr., reminds us that the state’s competitiveness depends on more than just the strength of its signature industry.
“Our auto industry, just like our other industries, has external forces of competition, but we also need base-level things to be changed in this state: the global competition, the war for talent, and the AI impacting the industries.” Stevens then shares insights from a recent visit he had with a global supplier in Michigan: “We have to address base-level education in Michigan, and we need to address the things which we’re all talking about: the infrastructure of the future, meaning broadband, transportation, and housing.”
