MichAuto’s You Drive the Future, University of Michigan’s Electric Vehicle Center Team Up to Reach the Next Generation of High-Tech Talent

MichAuto and the University of Michigan’s Electric Vehicle Center (EVC), are teaming up to bring new energy and momentum to MichAuto’s You Drive the Future program. In addition to funding support, the EVC will leverage its partnerships across the automotive and mobility ecosystem to identify creators who support the industry, particularly in battery technology, electrification, and infrastructure, to contribute to the You Drive the Future social media platforms.

This collaboration will enhance the You Drive the Future campaign’s ability to inspire the next generation of high-tech talent by elevating stories of students and young professionals shaping Michigan’s automotive and mobility future.

You Drive the Future is a social media-focused initiative designed to spark interest in high-tech careers by showcasing students and young professionals pursuing or working in automotive and mobility industry careers. Through short-form, creator-driven content, You Drive the Future highlights what it’s like to live, work, and play in Michigan while building a career in this rapidly evolving industry.

Since launching, You Drive the Future has reached over 20 million views among Gen Z across the state. The goal has always been to tell the full story of what a career in automotive and mobility looks like, one that includes diverse voices, unique educational pathways, and ample statewide opportunities.

You Drive the Future seeks to expand perceptions of what automotive and mobility careers can be beyond traditional manufacturing, emphasizing the industry’s innovation and variety of opportunities to leverage all kinds of skill sets.

As this new partnership takes shape, You Drive the Future is seeking more storytellers, students, and young professionals who are passionate about the industry and eager to share why they choose to live, work, and play in Michigan. Employers can also nominate a young professional as a creator, leverage this platform to showcase company culture, cutting-edge technology, and the unique opportunities they can offer Gen Z talent, or to create content featuring young professionals. Creators will be compensated $250 per video.
